In other words, James was telling the believers that when they face trials and tribulations, they should consider it a joyous occasion because these trials will help them develop steadfastness, which is the ability to remain committed and unshaken in their faith no matter the circumstances. James believed that trials produce perseverance, which ultimately leads to spiritual maturity and completeness.
