Rather, it was a test of Adam and Eve's obedience to God's authority as their Creator and Lord. By forbidding them to eat from the tree, God was setting a clear boundary and demonstrating His authority over them. It was an act of love in that it allowed them to exercise their free will and choose to obey God, showing their trust and love for Him in return. However, as we know from the story, Adam and Eve disobeyed God by eating from the tree, leading to their expulsion from the Garden of Eden and the introduction of sin into the world. The story teaches us about the importance of obedience to God's authority and the consequences of disobedience, but also about God's love and mercy in providing a way for us to be reconciled to Him through Jesus Christ.
