After the Israelites had crossed the Red Sea, the pursuing Egyptian army followed them into the sea, but God caused the waters to return and drown the army. The Bible says that the Egyptians encamped at Pi-ha-hi-roth before pursuing the Israelites, so that is where they were when they were drowned in the Red Sea.
